Trigger lost remote finder in the Roku mobile app icon from the navigation bar and make sure you are connected to your Roku device. Next, tap the three dots to the right of your connected device and select Ping Remote to trigger the feature.

Find your remote section. Go to Devices > Roku > three-dot menu icon. From the screen that looks like a remote, tap the filter icon (three sliders) and go to Lost Remote.

A really cheap method is to simply use some string. You may be able to simply hook one end into the battery cover edge, and tie the other to an armrest or table leg.

To test for a successful connection, press the voice button and look for a status indicator on your TV screen. If the issue is not resolved, replace the batteries with a new matching pair and try again. If your remote is rechargeable, press and hold the pairing button for 20 seconds.

For Windows 10, go to Search in the taskbar and:

1. Type “cmd” to bring up the Command Prompt.
2. Open the Command Prompt.
3. Type “ping” in the black box and hit the space bar.
4. Type the IP address you'd like to ping (e.g., 192.XXX.X.X).
5. Review the ping results displayed.

Bluetooth finders use your phone's Bluetooth signal to connect and can stay connected for up to 200ft / 60 m. When this connection is lost, the last known location of your TV remote finder will be displayed on a map in the Chipolo app until they reconnect.

While Roku does not have a tool for tracking lost or stolen devices, we do recommend taking the following precautions.

Boxes with textures like wood or woven material and pretty patterns are also options. Consider using multiple pretty containers if you have multiple remotes (like I did) or a large basket or tray to keep them organized on your coffee table.

Don't tear the room apart looking for that misplaced remote. Just say “Hey Roku, where's my remote?” or find it using the free Roku mobile app.

Why does my Roku keep turning off and on? If you plugged your Roku player into a USB port on your TV, check for a low power signal on your Roku. If you see a red flashing light or a low-power warning on your TV screen, switch to a different port. Or, use the power adapter to plug the device into a wall outlet instead.

Why does my Android Roku remote app keep closing? You might need to update the app and restart your device. Check for an app update in Google Play from the Menu > My apps & games > Updates. You could also try clearing the Android app's cache and uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Ping & traceroute tests

1. Open the command window by clicking START, then RUN.
2. Type PING in the command dialogue window.
3. Hit the space bar once.
4. Type the IP or website address that you want to ping.
5. Hit "Enter" or return on your keyboard.
6. You can now move to the next step to perform a TRACERT test (see below)
