And some automotive masking tape to protect your car's painted surfaces. Once you've taped off the perimeter finished surfaces. And scrubbed the headlight with soap.

I get about 6-8 weeks out of a dry application in the summer, maybe 3-4 weeks in the winter now when the roads are a lot dirtier. Lately I have been using it as more of a drying aid each time I wash the car. Just a few quick sprays on a wet car before I dry it off and I'm fine for a few weeks.

Can a headlight lens be refinished more than once? Yes, a lens can be refinished several times using the 3M Refinishing System. Most lenses are made of polycarbonate material that is 1/8” to a ¼” thick. We are only removing a small fraction, less than 1/32” in most cases, from the overall lens thickness.

Generally, the restoration will last four to six months before some discoloration returns. However, it will not be as severe and the new oxidation will easily be removed by using the Lens Clarifying Compound. 4.

On an average it will take about 15-20 minutes per headlight. Headlights that are larger or that are harder to sand will require more time and can take from 30-40 minutes per lens. Smaller lenses may only take about 10 minutes per lens.

New bulbs might restore some headlight brightness, bulbs can dim with age as well. But clouded lenses that aren't restored will continue to reduce headlight effectiveness, potentially causing safety issues in nighttime driving and low-visibility conditions.

What is the service life of a restored headlight? Depending on driving conditions, environmental factors, and the customer's care of their vehicle, the expected service life of a headlight restoration is at least one year and may be as long as 3 years.

We recommend applying it once or twice a year in order to maintain your finish in tip top condition.
