Folds of Honor is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of military members who have fallen or been disabled while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Lt Col Rooney is the founder and CEO of Folds of Honor. The mission of the Folds of Honor is unwavering and has grown into a national force for good. Lt Col Dan Rooney It is rated a four-star charity by Charity Navigator and Platinum on GuideStar. It was founded by Lt Col Dan Rooney, the only-ever F-16 fighter pilot (with three combat tours in Iraq) and PGA Professional.

The story of Folds of Honor began when Rooney was on a flight home from his second tour of duty in Iraq. As his flight landed, the pilot announced they carried the remains of Corporal Brock Bucklin on board.

The Rooney family has been the majority owners and operators of the Pittsburgh Steelers football team in Pittsburgh, PA since the formation of the franchise in 1933. Art Rooney was the founder and owner of the team until his death in 1988, ownership of the team was then transferred to Art's oldest son, Dan Rooney.
