Pfizer acquired ThermaCare in 2008 as part of its acquisition of Wyeth, the original manufacturer of ThermaCare products. Since the acquisition, Pfizer has continued to manufacture and market ThermaCare products under the ThermaCare brand.
Product Recall
In November 2018, Pfizer issued a voluntary recall of some of its Thermacare Heatwraps products due to a risk of the wraps leaking and causing skin irritation or burns. The company advised consumers to stop using the affected products immediately and to contact Pfizer for a refund or replacement.
Company Acquisitions
In July 2019, Pfizer's Consumer Health Business was acquired by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). The acquisition included the production of ThermaCare products , among other consumer healthcare brands. GSK has since taken over the production and marketing of ThermaCare products.
