What kind of company is NBC?
NBC, short for the National Broadcasting Company, is an American English-language commercial broadcast television and radio network. It is the flagship property of the NBC Entertainment division of NBCUniversal , which is a subsidiary of Comcast. The company's headquarters are located at the Comcast Building in New York City , with additional offices in Los Angeles at 10 Universal City Plaza and Chicago at the NBC Tower.
Founded in 1926 by the Radio Corporation of America (RCA), NBC is one of the oldest and most well-established television networks in the United States. It is often referred to as the "Peacock Network", in reference to its stylized peacock logo , which was introduced in 1956 to highlight its innovations in early color broadcasting.
NBC has twelve owned-and-operated stations and nearly 200 affiliates throughout the United States and its territories. Some of these affiliates are also available in Canada and Mexico through pay-television providers or over-the-air in border areas. NBC is known for its diverse programming, including news, sports, entertainment, and reality shows.
